It was the ol' soldier-is-a-victim storyline Hollywood has been using for over 40 years. This soldier (who looked too young to have served 3 tours in the WOT) shot himself in the foot to keep from being redeployed. Then he started whining when House told him "sure the government screwed you" but shooting your foot won't change anything. You'll still have to go.
