I think it boiled down to realizing that after winning two championships, and knowing from that point on the bar had been set so high, that after the Bama loss and knowing that a 13-1 season would still be considered a disappointment, and with the health scare, that it wasn’t worth the risk to his health. He’s climbed the mountain, I think he’ll continue in some capacity in football, but I don’t see him coaching again.
He’s always looked stressed out.

So according to ESPN, the word now is that Meyer is NOT resigning/retiring, but taking a leave of absence next season and will return when he feels ready. Press conference coming up at 4:30 EST.
