Hollywood actor and director Mel Gibson's next directing project will be an as-yet untitled film about Vikings, starring Leonardo DiCaprio, "Variety" reported on Monday.
Gibson is to direct DiCaprio in an untitled period drama set during Viking times, according to the film industry bible, which reported that veteran script writer William Monahan also has signed on to the project.

He’s been in four movies since the Aviator and i bet you can’t name one.
Well, he was pretty convincing in “Blood Diamond” and “The Departed.”
An “LOL” from you is a high compliment. Thanks...
Hey, Dicaprio was old enough to pass for a PanAm pilot.. ;-)
Go Vikes!
“Well, ya’ got me there, pal.”
No wonder Pom-Pom bit you!
He will be Teddy Roosevelt in a upcoming film. That should be good. Can’t go wrong with Teddy.
Since they he has grown out and has appeared in "Gangs of New York" and "The Departed" as thuggish characters. He will do just fine.
Now, he is still a liberal nitwit, mind you...
“Blood Diamond”, another great DiCaprio film.
I agree. I think between him and Gibson, this will be a good movie. I’m looking forward to seeing it.
The Viking chief’s role will go to Perez Hilton.
Terrific line from a wonderful movie. Rates with “Little Brother, there are more.”
I remember some of it. The part that stands out is one of the lead characters getting attacked in the face by a hawk, and a bell tower made out of a bell. I think that was what set the Vikings sailing off.
The bell was gold and they went off to steal it.
Lots of high jinx on the way.
Leo is 6 foot. Not exactly shortish, even by today’s standards.
He is a good actor as well.
6 ft! He certainly seems shorter on film. I suppose with enough makeup and wild hair it could work. I don’t think he’s that hot as an actor and there’s something about his features that just looks juvenile to me. Not my type I guess. Never saw a film I liked him in.
Wow, was he in that movie?? I saw it so long ago, I don't remember the actors.
I do remember seeing DiCaprio with Claire Danes in Romeo & Juliet set in modern day Brazil. He was good in that.
He played the mentally challenged little brother. He did a great job and he was probably only about 17 then. I think he was nominated for an oscar for that performance and he should have been.
Might have to get that one on the Netflix queue. I do think I’d like to see it again. (And pay more attention this time)
