Joe Kennedy lampooned on wind war
Boston Herald ^ | 12/14/09 | Thomas Grillo

The president of an Arizona Navajo chapter hopes a picture will be worth a lot of hot air.

The not-so-flattering painting of Joseph P. Kennedy II is on display at a Cortez, Colo., art gallery after a dispute over wind turbines on Navajo land.

The 15-by-28-inch portrait depicts an angry Kennedy with wild eyes, a large gut and a finger jabbing the air.

“It’s a parody,” said Edward Singer, the artist and president of the Navajos’ 1,500-member Cameron Chapter who met with Kennedy a year ago. “He was shaking, perspiring profusely, yelling, arguing and berating the Navajo community and I captured it.”

Kennedy, president of Boston-based Citizens Energy Corp., tried to convince the tribe to allow his for-profit business, Citizens Wind, to build a wind farm on the tribe’s reservation on Gray Mountain in northern Arizona.

But the tribe prefers Sempra Energy, a California developer of wind-power projects, and International Piping Products (IPP), a Houston provider of steel for the turbine industry, to build the wind farm.

“We told Kennedy we are not interested,” Singer said.

A spokesman for Kennedy did not return calls seeking comment.

Is this the same Kennedy family that doesn't want offshore wind turbines near Nantucket? I can understand the navigation hazard where a Kennedy might fly, navigate a boat or even drive an Oldsmobile into an offshore tower. But claiming aesthetic value for their area but ignoring it anywhere else requires a special class of hypocrisy.

So, wind farms/windmills to generate electricity are good? Not when they block views at the Kennedy Compound!

When Kennedy says
“I do not come here lightly...”
He expects resuts.

He’s too important
To kick around the desert
And not get big bucks.

Navajos should know,
Kennedies are their Betters,
And do what they say.

Amazed that Joe didn’t run for his uncle Teddy’s seat. Doesn’t everybody get a warm feeling after seeing him in those Citizen’s Energy ads (”nobody should be out in the cold”)? Of course, skeletons in his closet...

—known for a temper

—got marriage anulled

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Joseph_Patrick_Kennedy_II
>>Rauch refused to agree to the annulment

and

—In August 1973, a Jeep he was driving overturned, fracturing one of his brother David Kennedy’s vertebrae, and permanently paralyzing David’s girlfriend, Pam Kelley.[5] The police cited Kennedy with reckless driving and the judge temporarily suspended his driver’s license.[1][5] The Kennedy family paid for Kelley’s initial medical treatment and her continued care during the years following the accident

Wasn’t there also a fireworks incident w/ his family?

Once on Mystery Science theatre they showed someone driving very erratically and one of the 'bots chimed in, "He drives like a Kennedy!"

We cahhhhhhhn't (Kennedy accent) have windmills blocking the American Royal Family's view of Nantucket sound, can we?

Can you imagine what this putz and his friends would be saying if an energy corporation were proposing to put oil derricks instead of windmills on the skyline of Grey Mountain? Smelly hippies would be chaining themselves to bulldozers.

By the way, I’ve been through Cameron many times. Oil derricks would be an improvement.

...we’ve got fast buck artists like Kennedy coming to our area(NC mountains)too...they specialize in going to poorer rural areas...they figure they’ll catch less flak from the ‘rubes’ than from the ocean front home owners.

...ever see a windmill contract?...it specifies that the cost of putting it up will be paid by the energy company...no mention of who pays to take it down when the govt. subsidy dries up...how’d you like to have an abandoned 38 story mill on your land?...that’s not something that you and your brother-in-law will take down with a set of craftsman wrenches on a Saturday.

I read somewhere that physicians now believe that the tumor that lead to the amputation was not cancerous....IF so, that’s a travesty.

Indeed. And now...David Kennedy’s girlfriend, Pam Kelley

http://fatboy.cc/Pam%20Kelley.htm

>>She was paralyzed. She would never walk again. Joe Kennedy, too, paid a price for his Teddy-like driving. A judge who had been a Harvard classmate of his late uncle and namesake Joe Jr. suspended his driver’s license. Years later, a radio talk-show host speculated that Joe’s favorite ice cream flavor was “fudge cripple.”

(snip)

>>That was the bad news for David. The good news was, when he was in the hospital recovering from his own fractured vertebrae, he was introduced to morphine. Soon he too was a junkie, like his older brother Bobby. In 1984, David would be dead of a drug overdose at the Brazilian Court in Palm Beach.

>>>Joe Kennedy is now retired from politics, at least temporarily. A few years ago, on the beach at Hyannisport on the Fourth of July, he set one of his sons on fire with some illegal fireworks.
>>> No charges were filed.

Carpetbagging Yankee caviar-eater in the land of the Navajo. Would have made for a “Green Acres” moment.

to allow his for-profit business, Citizens Wind, to build a wind farm.

Newsflash: Without massive taxpayer subsidies and artificial rate increases, wind turbines will NEVER be a "For Profit" business.

Those things would be much easier to dis-assemble if the owner first applied a suitable amount of C4 to the base structure. Notice that I said “owner”. Tiiiiimberrrrrrr!

He's a lying, pugnacious, arrogant hothead. I'm surprised someone hasn't ripped his "royal" head off by now.
