One of the greatest favors that can be bestowed on the American People is Economy in Government.
Maybe they called him "silent Cal" because when they finished censoring everything he had to say about private enterprise and individual liberty there wasn't anything left to report.

I have always admired Coolidge and thought he was underrated. If you read some of his speeches and statements you can tell he was a very smart man who spoke and wrote with extraordinary eloquence about freedom, the necessity of keeping government small, and the belief in American exceptionalism.

I suppose today we would say Coolidge was not very telegenic. I have only seen video of him or heard recordings of his voice a few times. Here he looks rather old but he was only about 52 at the time. Still when you compare his ideas to those of the current one in the White House, Coolidge sounds 1000 times better!
