You make an excellent point, in that Tiger (at some instant) chose to wear the mantle of "celebrity" as opposed to that of "golf professional". And because the entertainment media are to celebrity what saltwater is to a shark, his decision had consequences he may not have fully considered.

Nonetheless and given Tiger's upbringing and early success, it is out of character for him. The lure of celebrity is powerful; with it comes a form of universal adoration which is not the same as love: the latter completes the soul while the former has been known to empty it.

Absolutely. This is the first time that he touched the stove and got burned. But I have much more sympathy for a toddler who learns that lesson than an adult who has grown up in the spotlight from the beginning.
