This morning, Kaiser covered a story from the Chicago Sun Times that stated that Elin Woods would be given a hefty seven-figure amount immediately transfered into an account she alone controls to stick with her husband. Elin was originally slated to receive $20 million out of Tigers billion dollar fortune if she stayed married to him for a full 10 years. The couple has been married just five years, but Tiger is trying to throw more money at Elin to get her to stay.
The Daily Beast has exclusive details of the prenup terms and the exact dollar amount incentives included in the revised version. According to sources, Elin has been offered the full prenup payout amount, $20 million, plus an additional $55 million if she stays with Tiger for two more years. In order to encourage her to stay, Elin has been given an immediate $5 million payment. The guy made $110 million last year and hes been married to Elin for five years. If the settlement doesnt reach nine figures I dont think its fair. Thats a hell of a lot of money, but look at all the women this guy cheated with. He wants his wife to stay for two more years for less than 10% of his fortune. Hes made a billion dollars. Who knows how much of that is left after all the women hes wooed, but she deserves 1/2 of what hes made during their marriage. Yes this is a sick amount of money, but look at how much he makes. He was the highest paid athlete in the world last year.

Does this rise to the level of blackmail? Or is it only a crime when it happens to David Letterman?
Not Carrie Prejean. Not others.
I hope part of the agreement is that she and the children can live in separate quarters. How could she bear to be touched by him?
Immediate STE check, or did she already and that is what started her suspicion in the first place?
Ahhh...that would be MADE 100,000,000 in endorsements.
Me thinks that gravy train got derailed.
Pre-nups are not subject to amendment after marriage. Hopefully she has her own attorney who knows what he/she is doing
In the technical sense, no. She was smart. She got a lawyer, who scheduled a "press conference" but was nondescript about exactly what was going to be discussed. It could have been a press conference on a new business venture, or endorsement deal.
So long as she, nor her representatives, didn't initiate contact with Tiger, she didn't break any laws. Extortion is an active crime, not a passive crime - like willful disregard. You have to actively engage (called coerce) someone in order to satisfy the definition extortion. Granted, this comes close, but it doesn't get there.
Prejean, OTOH, I believe probably was extorted if the reporting is accurate. She was told do something, or damaging information would be made available. That's coercion.
yeah, but hell. I am a dude, and I would probably be willing to move in for two years if I got 10% of his fortune :)
Not involuntary amendment, no. But, Tiger's sponsors probably want him to work this out and make it go away.
Prenups can, and sometimes are voluntarily amended, post-nuptially. Just ask Michael Jordan. He got caught cheating, his wife renegotiated the terms of her prenup and took him to the tune of $150 million after Michael cheated again allegedly.
$55m for two more years...is Tiger hoping the 2012 EOTW predictions will kick in at that point?
Sounds like BO’s “committment” to fighting/leaving Afghanistan.
It’s pretty sad when you have to pay your wife to stay with you. What was once a marriage has now turned into a business deal. I guess all for the sake of his image.
The whole discussion of dollars and cents makes me sick. She already has millions. Now he has to start making payments for her to stay another year or two. Plus the original prenup. You tell me if any of this is moral or love?

Or a tell all 'script'.
Marriage is a business deal in the first place.
When he pays her the additional 55 million for two years, I assume he gets to keep cheating.
Pretty soon you’ll see the wife is not going to look like a hero in this.
Given the nature of the pre-nup, I would describe this report as a re-negotiation. Happens everyday in the sports world.
