The commitment was to europe first and then the pacific. It sucked to be in the pacific in the early fighting for sure but that was the way it was.You go to war with the army and supplies you have not the army and supplies you wish you had.We did make em pay dearly there is no denying that.

"Beck is wrong to be contributing to the already low military enthusiasm among our young men, already we are forced to take their girlfriends and 42 year old grandmothers to replace the males that refuse to serve their nation."

Yep, I have to agree. I served under 5 different Presidents, including Clinton and this current retard. Presidents come and go. You don't swear to defend a President, you swear to defend the Constitution.

FDR was not in it to win as you think but what was won in battle from Hitler was given over to Russia.
For starters check out Yalta.

From what I read on this thread, it sounds like people under 55 who obtained their schooling in Public School by the typical NEA Liberal Teachers.

What’s to clarify? If conservatives left the military in droves, where is ‘Obozo’ going to find replacements for them, from his large base of anti-military, anti-war liberals, not likely.

Evidently Glenn Beck speaking out publicly against military service has made a big impression on many of you.

I don’t assign any more value to what Beck said than anyone else. I have spent hours and hours talking with and exchanging emails with officers I served with. I formed my own opinion based on those conversations, my own research and study, and my own impressions of our current leadership.

Beck has the same right to his opinion as you and I do. There is nothing treasonous about him voicing that opinion or sharing it.

The problem is not our soldiers... it’s the mission, rules of engagement, and the continuing concerns about our leaders resolve and decisiveness.

If my son were killed in combat engaged with the enemy protecting those at his side I would grieve forever, but I would at least understand it.

If my son were killed in a convoy carrying desks to a school built by combat engineers in the middle of some desolate tribal region by an IED when their convoy schedule was known to some corrupt host country official I would DEFINITELY not feel my sons death was worth it. I would really be enraged if our leaders decide to withdraw because it’s too hard in a few years. How long do you think that school will last? Is that school worth the death of my son or four sons or ten sons?

If my son were killed by a sniper in a mosque because we were not allowed to destroy it I would never get over that. A mosque is not worth a single drop of American blood to me.

Hypothetical questions? Only if it’s not your son or your nephew.

I come from a family where all the men serve, father 1939-1945, stepfather Korean War time, me and my two brothers and step brother all volunteers during the Vietnam War, my son in 10th Mt in the 90s, cousins, nephews, brother-in-laws etc, we just pull our hitches, we never paid attention to who the President was.

It is kind of funny that now in modern America with over 300 million population, when we have to hire girls and moms to fill the empty slots, that this new sensitivity to who is living in the White House is so important.

Bush kept the terrorists from hitting us after 9/11.

It took less than a year for Obama to let them strike again on American soil

Yes, and if Bush were still president, I'd tell any young man to go ahead and sign up. However, Obama is president, which brings us back to Beck's point: don't enlist with an anti-American CIC, and I agree.

Everything in life is about leadership. My 16 year old has been thinking about joining.

Then you better lead him to serve or you are screwing him out of something that will mean more to him than who was President during a certain period. I shudder to think what you are doing to your boy.

Beck is an anti war Paulite to start with.

My relatives who are serving are all Conservative Republicans. They would rather fight the enemy over there than here.

As someone else said:> "Send half the needed troops and advertise an "exit strategy". Hellofa plan." I've learned to never underestimate what the men and women of the American military can do, but that's going to get an awful lot of them killed." Any withdrawal will be seen as a victory over the Great Satan in the jihadist’s conflict with the west. This alone will have a huge effect on the jihad movement worldwide."

Strangely enough, me too. My father, his father, his father - going all the way back to before the turn of the last century. Plus, my only son is in uniform today along with one of my daughters. It is sad that we've had difficulties meeting the minimal recruitment goals with such a large country, but it is what it is. Kids today, and people in general don't feel like they have any obligation to serve. I would bet that a very significant percentage of kids in the military today come from families where either their parents or siblings have served, it seems to be a common thread.

With respect to Beck's advice to his nephew, it was poor. Barry could choke on his arugula tomorrow and (Lord forbid) Biden could be POTUS. People have a bad habit of thinking "now is forever". It isn't. Obama, and his leftist minions, want a demoralized and shrinking military, of that, I have no doubt. Conservatives shouldn't be in the position of encouraging it.

Presidents come and go. You don't swear to defend a President, you swear to defend the Constitution.

That's all good in theory. But the reality is that you carry out the policies of the commander-in-chief. The Supreme Court barely acknowledges the Constitution, much less the executive branch.

I used to think that almost all men served, I thought the difference in military service was pulling a hitch or making it a career, I did not know that the difference was serving or not serving until I was into adulthood.

I still work on every good young man that I can to join up, I recently had a neighbor kid tell me that he had enlisted because of me, unfortunately he came up with a medical problem that lost him his enlistment, but he will always be able to say that he put himself in front of the recruiter (and meant it).
