Actually that Lab was just playing with the baby squirrel, note the puppy-bow posture. That's why she's so startled when momma comes after her.

A squirrel once tangled with my oldest Lab - my Choc female who is a savvy old hunting dog. He got in a couple of bites on her nose, but after ten seconds he was one DEAD squirrel. She did a victory lap with him in her mouth, bloody but unbowed.

I agree. Don’t think the lab Bubba would hurt a squirrel, he might play with it until it wished it was dead.
