NAACP and La Raza Rip Obama Over Historic Job Losses

This is weird.

The NAACP and La Raza slammed Obama today over his historic unemployment rates. And, The New York Times reported the story. Weird.

With unemployment among blacks at more than 15 percent, the N.A.A.C.P. will join several other groups on Tuesday to call on President Obama to do more to create jobs.

The organizations — including the A.F.L.-C.I.O. and the National Council of La Raza, a Hispanic advocacy group— will make clear that they believe the president’s $787 billion stimulus program has not gone far enough to fight unemployment.

They will call for increased spending for schools and roads, billions of dollars in fiscal relief to state and local governments to forestall more layoffs and a direct government jobs program, “especially in distressed communities facing severe unemployment.”

There has been a noticeable decrease in the number of latino day laborers in the South Bay.

I'd bet large numbers of them have self-deported - no wonder La Raza is p*ssed.

I doubt they've self-deported. More likely they've just moved on to another American town. Mexico sucks, and there is no shortage of flop houses for them to stay in when they're short of money. Many of those flop houses are subsidized with American taxpayer money.

The SF bay area would be the first place they'd go for sympathy and a stipend from the taxpayer.

I have a feeling many have gone home, but granted I have no proof.

Certainly for the sympathy, but a lot of people don't realize that the fed gov, by way of the USDA, has a program called "Farm Labor Housing" catering to migrant farm workers, which, in the last 40 years or so, has meant primarily Mexican illegals. Originally, the housing was limited to ag workers, but the definition of ag worker has been so stretched out, that now pretty much anyone can live there. In the central valley (of CA) these projects are quite common and are essentially little Mexican enclaves.

One that I know of, in particular, charged a rent of only $300 per month for a 2 bedroom unit. It was not uncommon to see some $30,000 - $40,000 trucks and cars outside of these units, because these guys could have a whole family living there, with a couple of them working for high dollars in construction, and only paying $300/month rent. This project was also rife with gang activity, which should come as a surprise to nobody. Since the focus was ag workers, there was no requirement for citizenship or legal residency. As far as I know, these projects are still in full operation.

I'm gonna side with Obie on this one. Here is my reasoning. Obie is like Chlamydia. He'll be gone after a few seasons and La Raza and the NAACP are AIDS and HIV, they'll never go away. So just to make sure I never have to admit to agreeing with either of them, I'll stick with the DoofusInChief. /s

Now they are screaming, but if a black individual even thought of pushing policies that helped creating jobs, that person would be an uncle tom or sellout.

This is coming from a black libertarian by the way, if any Kos kids are trolling around.

They are supposed to create the environment in which the private sector can flourish.

Completely true. A simple task and congress is not up to the job. Amazing isn't it?
