Google images has a fair few pics on ‘em.
The reason it seems to glow is the cloud cover is thick, and the sun is coming in through the edges of the hole.

This is why such a cloud appeared over O’Hare not long ago. And it is easy to confuse the sight of the circular ice drop with an object in the sky. These actually show up on radar, too.
