Probably it will just come down on it’s own gently enough.

No, they can’t fly like that, but just reading it made me snort cola all over my desk.

Take a helicopter, hang a cargo net at least 300 feet or more below the helicopter.
Weight down the corners of the cargo net so it hangs vertically. Fly the net in front of the balloon and let the balloon come to the net and get trapped in the net.
Then lower the net and helicopter to the ground.
Remember, at LA California, the rotor wash will blast down at least 175 feet(the man who took the lawn chair ride suspended with balloons).

Been watching it; I don’t think anybody is in it. Watch it the way it spins. It is not spinning as if there was weight in it. If the child is in it he would be in the middle of the arrow below it or on the side; either way would make the balloon behave much differently than it is in the air.

I want to horsewhip the parents and I want their child to be unharmed.
There is something wrong with these people. At least it wasn’t a neighbor’s child.

If this thing gets to 10,000 ft, like they say is possible, the kid will be freezing cold and be low on atmospheric oxygen.

Current temperature at 9,000 feet MSL over Denver: 0 to -5 F, wind from NW at 20-25K.

I dunno, did you see the video? The thing’s ripping along in the wind with a flimsy plywood gondola. He’ll be lucky not to be impaled on the debris.

Also you man have to connect a man with a radio to the net, to talk to the pilot of the helicopter, to give instructions on lining up the net, to catch the balloon.

Cargo net with a couple of guys on it to get some hands on the balloon.
I can’t watch the TV on this one, it has me feeling a bit shaken.
I know there are people out there that can get this done I pray they have the time to get in place and do it.

Depends what the surface winds will be where it comes down.
How fast will it lose altitude? is it leaking?
Not sure a rescue attempt wouldn’t make things worse though.

If this thing gets to 10,000 ft, like they say is possible, the kid will be freezing cold and be low on atmospheric oxygen. Cold, yes. But at 10,000 feet the kid will be fine unless he already has respiratory problems.
Above 15,000 feet, oxygen starts to become a problem.
