Why does archeology only unearth stuff on the loony emperors and not the really good ones (like Trajan?)

Because Emperors like Trajan made themselves busy and useful, in contrast to the indolent ones who built pleasure palaces and spent their time in banquets and orgies.

Trajan didn’t stay home enough to build twelve palaces. ;’) Hadrian traded the entire island of Ischia in order to get Capri, must be (or have been) a hotspot of the Roman world. :’)
