This thread, even though it degenerated, did educate me in some things. Be careful what you post and protect your identity as much as you can, because there are some very disturbed people out there.

They will latch on to something fairly inconsequential and will harass, research everything you've posted, attack you and then act like they were justified. This is a form of psychosis.

Some of those people may seek to extend the forum battle to outside the internet. So, be careful!

THAT’S SOP for UFO threads.

For some psychodynamic reason . . . probably ATTACHMENT DISORDER, some folks have a visceral hostility to the possiblities and seem addicted to being outrageously hostile toward those of us who are aware of . . . various realities that the naysaying jerks can’t tolerate thinking about.

I poke back at them assertively some . . . adds some energy and also lets them know we aren’t just going to roll over and play dead to their idiotic statements.

However, it’s really NOT worth getting into a real harsh, mean-spirited pissing contest.

The mods don’t seem to like to bother with such threads. And, they probably don’t seem to like being forced to even worse.

So, mostly we try to police ourselves somewhat.

Last February, SpaceFest was held in San Diego and I helped Pop in his booth. Pop's booth was next to Al Bean's and Gene Cernan's was down on the end.

Rusty Schweickart, Dave Scott and Jim McDivitt were standing around Al's booth telling stories on one another when Gene stormed over and poking his finger at Al said, "Beano! I've got a bone to pick with you!" Dad went, "Uh oh." when Al stood up and calmly said, "Yes, what is it?" Gene fired off, "You know that painting you did of Shepard hitting the golf ball on the moon?" Al nodded and said, "Yes, what about it?" Gene then demanded "Why'd you place the ball in the painting where you did?"

Just then my Dad stood up laughing and shouted over the din, "Artistic license!"

Al, speaking to Gene, continued in his calm manner, "Well ... I called a golf pro shop and found the loft of a six iron ..." "A six iron?" Gene interrupted, "that was a six iron?" "Yes, it was a six iron," said Al and continued, "and I ran the numbers based on how far back the perspective was in the painting, and that's why I put the ball there."

Gene smacked Al on the arm and blurted out, "You liar! You know when Shepard hit that ball he muffed that shot and the ball didn't go more than 10 yards!"

Al shrugged his shoulders and said, "Well ... you know ... artistic license."

Everyone burst out laughing and they continued jawing and telling stories on one another for the next hour.

Those are the men I know. Jovial, hard bitten, fun loving and a kick in the pants to be around. If you ever get a chance to be around them, just sit back and listen. You will hear amazing stories and conversations. They've got the skinny and inside dope on all things regarding the space program.
