Welcome to The Hobbit Hole!
Things are progressing smoothly on ‘The Hobbit’ in New Zealand. Check out theOneRing.net, or Ian McKellan’s blog on the shoot. Legolas is finally officially confirmed for the film, presumably as the previously unnamed son of the King of the Wood Elves. Elrond is not confirmed either way. Premier of first movie still set for twenty months from now.
In case the Feds shut down the internet tonight, I’ll see you later.
We are now in high spring in North Central Florida, highs about 90, lows in the lower 60’s.
So, I think I see most everyone else over on Facebook.
I’m not planning on spending another election cycle fighting with morons.
So, I’m out of here. Y’all feel free to contact me vial email or the Yahoo site.
There's what, five of us left, I quit FB over privacy issues, haven't been able to get to a single moot, The Hobbit is coming out right after the election and another one is headed for the tall grass?
sux.
Yeah, I read Corin’s post and suddenly the song “Another One Bites the Dust” started running through my head.
Our list of allies grows thin....
The Stalwart Dwarf retreats into his cave kingdom, the men, hobbits, and elves will miss his mighty ax!
See above.
Just the lull between storms. Or the LOL between outrages from the Beltway.
So we got left behind...sniff.
I’ve got privacy issues with Facebook and I don’t want to go into that Moria-like black pit.
Yeah, Facebook is kind of like Shelob’s web....
Heh...guess I’d make a lousy Companion.
“Yeah Frodo, I’ll follow you to Mordor, but not Facebook.”
So I thought I’d overseed the front lawn today...and I hit a speed bump. Good thing that spot needed extra seeds!

FB membership ot required.
Alan Lee is on the job.
Ian McKellen was (to me) unrecognizable-- until he spoke.
Sounds like the prologue is straight from the book, and voiced by Ian Holm: "In a hole in the ground there lived a hobbit."
We’ve been working on the south side of the lawn I previously mentioned. OB dug it up, rototilled it yesterday and today we spread seed and are keeping our fingers crossed for rain. There were so many roots and rootlets it’s not wonder grass couldn’t grow.
Lawns in the midwest are such a trial!!
Well my back yard is in bloom. :) I’ll have to do a proper job of overseeding this fall.
I got the blueberries in yesterday...waiting for rain...
Got one section of the wilderness tamed a bit..spaded, roto tilled, seeded and whew. One down two to go. Lots of roots from the neighbor’s tree are now appropriately trimmed. Losing the skirmish with errant sweetgum balls, we keep tossing ‘em back; their tree keeps dropping ‘em. Now waiting for the rain. ‘Who’s got the rain?’
Sweetgum balls are one of teh kittehs’ favorite toys.
I’ve got the last of the winter leaves to rake up. I’ve been spreading them around the corners of the back yard...the shady parts with lots of tree roots.
I’ll have to get the mower started some time soon.
Thanks for posting the info and link. The video was quite enjoyable. Please continue to post ‘em as you find ‘em. OB
