It is exciting that some really interesting things are being discovered from the 38,000 to 32,000 years ago time frame. For a long time they only thought the cave paintings were around 20,000 years ago and represented the FIRST burst of advanced human creativity.

Toba Volcano blew its 18 mile by 65 mile crater around 74,000 years ago, plunging us much deeper into the ice age and destroying all but 5 to 10,000 humans. By about 40,000 years ago our population had begun to recover and discover new things. Showing up, for example, in this article. Then around 30,000 there was another big plunge in the ice age which really stalled progress for about 10,000 years. I have identified one probable factor as the 22,000 year old Sakara-Jima caldera, about 15 miles in diameter. But there were at least 2 or 3 other major events. Then things began to warm up again about 18,000 years ago until the Younger Dryas event about 13,000 years ago. Probably a boloid strike or blast over Canada, and finally about 9,000 years ago civilization began to recover again.

Global Warming, HA!! What are we doing to prepare for the next civilization destroying natural geological event?
