I believe Starbucks has benefits for part-time workers. That would be one option. Also, they MIGHT be able to get a health insurance policy on their own with a rider that excludes treatment for their pre-existing condition. My husband had back surgery many years ago, and when we got our policy from Blue Cross, it had a rider stating anything related to that injury and surgery would not be covered.

Try working with an insurance broker who can help you find policies for them.

Another option is for them to find out what they have to do to qualify for your state’s coverage. Here in Arizona, it’s called AHCCS, but I don’t know how low your income has to be to qualify.

I second that. When I married my Dh over 23 years ago his insurance through his work started covering me. I’ve been a type 1 since I was 9 yo.
