"If I Had a Hammer" is a classic, beautiful folk song, written by a flaming Marxist, Pete Seeger. Seeger, of course, was a charter member of the Weavers, a group whose communist sympathies were never hidden very effectively.

I can listen to Peter, Paul, and Mary and enjoy the artistry and beauty of their harmonies while discounting their woefully misguided but undoubtedly sincere politics.

Mary Travers had a wonderful voice. Her passing leaves me feeling sad and a bit emptier.
