My thoughts on Ben: He's an ass, like I've said before. He's arrogant, rude, a bully, and seems to be incapable of thinking of the long-term consequences of his actions. His racism is just one of his many negative character traits. Do not worry about him "getting away with it" - he'll get what's coming to him soon enough.
Because you're new here, you may not know what we're really like, so I'll explain it right here. Mainstream conservatives are not racist. We condemn the extremists on our own side - something that mainstream liberals completely fail to do. And our little group of Survivor fans most certainly is not racist. It's unfortunate that I even have to say these things, but Obama and his ilk are throwing the race card around here, there, and everywhere. Obama has set race relations back at least 50 years.
If your motives are clean, then let me be the first to welcome you to Free Republic. If, however, you've come here to race-bait, know that you will fail utterly.
Oh, and I'm generously going to assume that you were just as disgusted with Mike's racism as you are with Ben's, even though you didn't bother mentioning it. (Mike, in Episode 1, said that he was surprised at Jaison's swimming ability because he didn't think blacks could swim well). I'm sure that Mike's status as a self-proclaimed liberal had absolutely nothing to do with your not mentioning his racism. Absolutely nothing.

I can guarantee that I am not a race-baiter. I just needed to find a place to vent after what I saw last night. In all of the years that I have been a fan of Survivor, I couldn’t believe my eyes. Yasmin had every right to call Ben out for tackling her. But it just seemed as though he was adding insult and injury to injury by all of the racist and hateful comments he was making to her. I might be reading into this too much too, but did you also not see the veiled threat on a cop as he was writing down Betsy’s name at Tribal Council? I certainly agree with the one poster who talked about the editing of the show, but I hope Yasmin got to defend herself off-camera when she was observing Tribal Council. In my opinion, Ben made Russell look like an angel last night.
