Me too, but it helps be not too credulous. In the late 19th Century, tall tales were a staple of American literature. Similarly, newspapers of the day were rife with tongue in cheek fake news stories. Often, these appeared in waves, as writers elaborated on each others’ inventions. The flying snake stories seem to be of this type.

The Asian Flying Snake is for real and there is even a South American version...a large poisonous constrictor known as the “mata caballo”. Horse Killer. I do not know it’s common English or scientific name, however, I have personally seen a few and I most definitely affirm their existence.

I agree. Even if not true - reading the made up stories that turn of the century Americans told themselves for fun is worthwhile even if you don't buy the flying serpent angle.

I am one of those types that would not believe a UFO story but think it is worthwhile to examine because even if there are no UFOS or bigfoots it does tell us about the human condition if we make such stories up. Either way I am cool with it.
