In Naples...started out as a nice hot day, but since about 2 or so it’s been raining. Light breeze too.
But beware, they said the exact same thing about Alicia 25 years ago. Just a wave, they said, we might get a little rain they said, nothing to worry about they said!!!!!! Boy do I remember how they downplayed that little storm.
Well, I think one of my fellow 1Ls jinxed us. He said everyone would get down here for school and a hurricane would hit.
Our supply of aviation gasoline had not made it in so the boss bought every drum of naphtha in the town. Pilots simply had to watch our cylinder head temperatures and adjust our mixture accordingly.
Great advice. Cash is king when times are tough, and no electricity is the worst with high heat and humidity! How are you doing these days?
I’ve got a BIL in Kissimee; he’s watching too, Bill’s got the better chance of making landfall at low Cat1 right now.
He lost a roof a while back and had more trouble with the roofers than the storm that time.
We have to remember that we are talking about the weather and it doesn’t care what we forecast; I spent a year back in 1969 studying storm tracks and calculating error factors for Dr. Robert Renard at the U.S. Navy Postgraduate School in Monterey, Ca. to share with the NMC office/lab on station.
We did it all with Marchand Calculators, card-punch machines and Fortran field sheets; our computer was a five story building with the first floor dedicated to the card-punch machines, operators and admin personnel.
I was still using tables for large square roots.
We know only a bit more now than we did then about these “suckers.”
Still, it’s better to be safe than sorry.
Please, please, please let it hit the Texas coast as a weak tropical storm...
...we really, really need the rain.
Check Obama's list of czars.
He has at least one convicted felon who spent time in prison from the Rodney King riots as a czar.
