I've been married for over 25 years now. When I was single, I know if I went to a party with a date, a lot more girls would flirt with me and try to give me their numbers than would if I was alone. I noticed when I tended bar that girls hit on me all the time, also.

I think women like the idea of an escape hatch. If I'm behind the bar, they can leave if they wish, and if I'm at a party with another woman, they could do the same.

(Some) Women do like to try and take a guy away from another woman. It's their version of an athletic event.

I am acquainted with two single women, one young and the other over fifty, who deliberately went after a married man for the fun of damaging a marriage.

This makes sense, in my experience. When I had a girlfriend, that’s when other girls would start hitting on me. When I didn’t have a girlfriend, ironically, they weren’t as interested. I’ve always chalked this up to women wanting what other women have.
