One handgun against an army? Not much. Millions is another story.
Great read!
What’s it take to build a tank now? 2 years? A fighter? 3 years? A carrier? 10 years? We haven’t built a new B52 since the 70s. We’re not or apparently can’t produce 500 tanks like we did in WW2.
Great pun!
And, so true.
Fight The Power!
"The Liberator was shipped in a cardboard box with 10 rounds of .45 ACP ammunition, a wooden dowel to remove the empty cartridge case, and an instruction sheet in comic strip form[1] showing how to load and fire the weapon. Extra rounds of ammunition could be stored in the pistol grip.
After production, the Army turned the Liberators over to the OSS. A crude and clumsy weapon, the Liberator was never intended for front line service. It was originally intended as an insurgency weapon to be mass dropped behind enemy lines to resistance fighters in occupied territory. A resistance fighter was to recover the weapon, sneak up on an Axis occupier, kill or incapacitate him, and retrieve his weapons.
The weapon was valued as much for its psychological warfare effect as its actual field performance. It was believed that if vast quantities of these weapons could be delivered into Axis occupied territory, it would have a devastating effect on the morale of occupying troops. The plan was to drop the weapon in such great quantities that occupying forces could never capture or recover all the weapons. It was hoped that the thought of thousands of these unrecovered weapons potentially in the hands of the citizens of occupied countries would have a deleterious effect on enemy morale."
marked for later.
A pointy stick or a screwdriver will get you a nice shiny rifle and some other kit.
A simple hammer can perform miracles...
“None of the services train females for combat to the degree they do males, and I dont see that changing in the near future.”
Females go to jump school, sniper school, survival schools, etc. They are in the training programs, even if they don’t perform to the level of their male counterparts.
Works in the other direction, too.
Bookmark bump.
Small groups of militia (neighbors) that eventually gather more and more 'squads' together. That's also how we fought a good portion of the Revolution, by Guerrilla Warfare.
But back to 'The Pistol'.
Another thing to start with is having weapons that are the same caliber as 'the enemy'. After you take them out you take their ammo (and weapon). That's why I chose a 9mm handgun and a 9mm 'black rifle' carbine(1). I could have went with 10mm, 40 S&W or .45ACP, but went NATO 'standard', 9mm instead (try to find .40 S&W during a civil war.) And when I get my shotgun, it'll be 12 ga, to match police shotgun std ammo.
The Brits did this 'same caliber thing' in WWII with the Sten Sub-Machine guns. They chambered them in 9mm so they could use captured German ammo.
(1) I have other caliber guns as well
And so those hungry, huddled, dumbed down masses will have little reason to restore our Constitutional Republic and free enterprise.
They're far more likely to believe that is what we have now and is what caused all of our problems, instead of the tyrannical monstrosity that's been built on top of our Republic and bypassing the Constitution altogether.
Maybe not, but they can shoot the operator who is basically blind and dumb while he is flying the UAV. Or he can shoot the fuel supply truck driver, or the maintenance personnel, or the operator of the electric power plant which provides power to the operator. There is more than one way to skin a modern military. And it is very difficult to watch every single phase of the supply train.
Don't worry, I won't hurt anybody’s sensibilities any longer.
Good post.
