Noble savage ping.
I watched a show last night on Easter Island. You’ve probably seen it or one like it. They figured out that the island was stripped of its trees and basically ruined prior to the Europeans showing up and that they ate each other. But at the end we learned that just as they were figuring out how to co-exist, the most horrific thing happened, the Europeans showed up. I’m sure it did do some bad things. But it made me cranky. I mean we had just learned that they were killing and eating each others in huge numbers but the Europeans killing 16 of them on the first encounter was the most horrible thing ever.
Bookmarked.
“It may have been people who were impersonating some kind of corn goddess,” he said, “And their duty was to die.”
Whoa! There goes my corn goddess impersonation gig down at the Sahara!
What? Those Indians were created here, and in-touch with nature! They would never do such a thing; why if it were any different, they nmight lose their special status. That would never do. We can’t have Indians paying federal taxes, now can we?
When are the Indians going to start paying reparations for all the people they killed?
Right after they resurect one of the paleo Indians the made extinct.
What? You mean those peaceful, gentle Indians committed genocide and exterminated a people of color? I am absolutely shocked, shocked I tell you.
Ah, yes, the kumbayah singin' lotus eating gentle hobbits who surrounded their town with a bastioned wall with a gate complex and fighting towers.
Wow - 20000 inhabitants in the city in 1150 AD. I did not realize this. I always pictured migrating bands of tribes back then in America not a big city. Very interesting. Learn something every day.
On the general subject you’ve brought up there, I’m a big fan of Cortez, personally. He was pretty spot on with his handling of the Aztecs.
Cranky Cahokia Corn Goddess ping
Sorry to hear that. Perhaps Hussein’s mental health coverage will help you recover. :)
Frazer’s “The Golden Bough” is a good read for this sort of stuff.

No doubt Hussein's health coverage will recover me with dirt like those skeletons at the bottom of those Indian sacrificial pits. If somebody is not a productive citizen, there is no reason to spend money on treatment. Throw them down the pit and cover them over--old people, cripples, the mentally insane. Think of the cost savings! Prognosis negative? Down the pit!
Thanks for the CCCG ping.
And because he whole thing of Hussein Death care is so magical, the standards can be changed on an instant’s notice and not a single Congressman/woman will read the new law...
Of couse all those who are pushing this pill bill will be the first to learn to love the magic. Since they were willing to sell out their fellow countrymen, they are unreliable and, therefore are defined to met the new magic standard. That’s when the cost savings will really kick in!
Jumping from "mass grave" to "sacrifice" is a major leap.
