Ferrari to start 800th race in Turkey
Ferrari, the only team remaining in Formula 1 which also contested the World Championship in its maiden season, is set to begin its 800th Grand Prix in Istanbul this weekend. Of the five races in Turkey so far, the Italian outfit has won three courtesy of Felipe Massa.
Although it did not contest the 1950 British Grand Prix, the first ever F1 race in the World Championship, the squad founded by Enzo Ferrari appeared at Monaco to race for the first time on 21 May that year.
The 800th Formula 1 race was staged in Singapore two years ago, the infamous event which has since become infamous due to the 'Crashgate' race-fixing scandal. Ferrari's figure is somewhat behind as the team has not competed in a small number of events over the course of the past six decades.
