RIO DE JANEIRO, Brazil -- Bruno Senna, nephew of three-time world champion Ayrton Senna, will drive next year for Formula One newcomer Campos, the team announced Saturday.
The 26-year-old is the first driver signed to one of the new F1 teams joining in 2010.
"It is a great pleasure to welcome Bruno Senna in the team," Campos chief executive Enrique Rodriguez de Castro said in a statement.
De Castro described Senna as "one of the most promising up-and-coming drivers of his generation."
"For Campos Meta 1 it is an extraordinary honour to be returning the name Senna to Formula One."
Senna was close to joining Brawn GP ahead of the 2009 season, but that seat was ultimately filled by Brazilian compatriot Rubens Barrichello.

Renault to follow Toyota’s lead and exit F1?
November 04, 2009 Britain’s BBC reports that Renault management has called an emergency board meeting in Paris to consider its Formula 1 involvement, in light of Toyota’s decision earlier today to withdraw from grand prix racing.
According to the report, the board will consider whether to continue the current program, reduce it to becoming an engine supplier, as it did in partnership with Williams in its previous F1 involvement, or quit the sport altogether. The BBC says the emergency board meeting will be attended by Renault F1 bosses Bob Bell and Jean-Francois Caubet, but they will not be allowed to take part in the debate about the team’s future.
In addition to its works team, which recently signed Robert Kubica to replace the Ferrari-bound Fernando Alonso for 2010, the Renault squad also supplies engines to Red Bull Racing which decisively outshone the company’s own team in F1 this year. Red Bull’s Renault deal is set to expire at the end of the year, but team boss Christian Horner said yesterday that he was looking to conclude a new contract with the French manufacturer.
