Apparently the wings will actuate automatically - no driver DRS, instead there will be: “...Increased overtaking opportunities through the introduction of a new system that gives drivers a short burst of additional battery power when within one second of the car in front.”
I DO like smaller & lighter like ACBC did with his Lotus vehicles...

Newey has some quibbles with 2026 but, his usual diplomatic self, he won’t name names.
In an earlier interview he remarked that the fastest way around the circuit will be with the ICE engine constantly at full throttle. That way the batteries stay full-up and not having enough electrons at a critical moment could be be costly.
But combined with being carbon-neutral by 2030 (does that include cargo jet fumes at the fly-away races?), this is complete capitulation to the New Green Religion.

When we say F1 engines, we’re talking about motors actually used in F1 Grands Prix.
One of the stranger cars in the expansive Porsche pantheon is the 930 TAG Turbo. For decades, the mere existence of the Formula 1-engined 911 was just a rumor. Well, not only is it real, but there are about to be a few more of them out there—and with more performance than ever before.
The original Porsche 930 TAG Turbo came about in the 1980s as an offshoot of McLaren’s F1 team according to Stuttcars. McLaren partnered with Porsche to develop an answer to Renault’s powerful turbo engines, culminating in an—unusual for Porsche—1.5-liter twin-turbo V6. The TAG-funded (and therefore TAG-branded) engine needed a testbed, and that testbed would be a 911 Turbo. And so, the 930 TAG Turbo was born.
I used to have one of those. A 1986. It tried to kill me numerous times.

I commented on this story at The Drive saying that since they’ve changed the pistons, cranks, heads, fuel systems, and turbos, these aren’t motors actually used in F1 Grand Prix, these are engine BLOCKS used in F1 Grand Prix.
Yep. The oversteer would come with no warning. SNAP.
