African is not a race
I think the BC flap has to do with embarrassing information on it — such as, father unknown; or his birth name was “Barry Dunham”; or legal name is “Barry Soetoro”, Indonesian citizen by adoption, who might have used that status to get a better deal on college admission or fees.
