Les Paul

Mr. Polfus
Lester William Polfus
Known to the world as Les Paul
Tinkered and invented all his life
I met him and talked with him last year
It was the closest I could have ever come
To meeting the likes of Ben Franklin, Thomas Edison
or Nikola Tesla

A life brimming with optimism,
genius, and the never ending quest
"How can I make this a little bit..."
better?"
This life he was given he has given back now

He went home at the age of Ninety-Four
A long deserved rest for a restless spirit
and a journey which has now changed
for the better

Les Paul, one of those quiet giants that made such a mark. He helped shape music, recording, style and the lives of many musicians. He did it all with a mind that sought new ways, and new sounds, and gave us such a wealth of foundation in our culture (and that of a lot of the world.) We will miss him, but we will have his gifts a long, long time.
