Did You Know??

Colognes are light, fresh fragrances. An Italian living in Cologne, Germany made the orginal cologne in the early part of the eighteenth century.
Colognes are becoming very popular again.
The one I enjoy making and using is a Citrus Cologne.I use a 4 ounce dark bottle to blend it in.
The aroma is very clean and fresh with the citrus as the top note.
Ingredients;
I first blend together all the Essential Oils in a pint size jar.
Bergamot Essential Oil; 40 drops
Thyme Essential Oil; 2 to 3 drops
Lavender Essential oil; 12 drops
Lemon Essential Oil; 15 to 20 drops
Rosemary Essential Oil; 5 drops
Neroli Essential Oil; 10 drops
Petitgrain Essential Oil; 10 drops
Once the essential oils are in the jar, cover with a white plastic lid. Shake to dissolve the essential oils.
Then add 2 tablespoons of Orange Flower Water to the blend and shake again.
Once this is done I move the Cologne to a dark cool cupboard. Each day I roll the jar back & forth.
I cure the blend for two weeks before using it. Each time you use it you must shake it because some of the essential oils may separate and float on the top.
I’ve found that when I cure it for at least two weeks, the oils all blend together.

2. Massage Oils

Sweet Almond oil is the most commonly used carrier/base Oil. However, Sweet Almond becomes rancid very easily!!
Grape Seed and Canola oils are good oils with a good shelf life, which easily absorbes. Massage Therapists and Beauticians widley use them.
Hazelnut oil is very rich and nourishing, although it is expensive.
Peanut oil, Coconut, or palm oil are too heavy and is known to cause skin break-out.
I use a small amount of Vitamin E Oil in addition to the other base oils.
