Liberte initiated the recall on August 11th 2009, when the company received an email from a consumer that found that containers labelled as Liberté Wild Blackberry yogourt actually contained the Liberté Méditerranée Plum and Walnut fruit preparation. Notwithstanding our internal quality safeguards, the Plum and Walnut filling was inadvertently put into the Wild Blackberry containers for some subset of this production run. The company has notified its distributors and retailers where the product was distributed and has asked that the products be removed from the shelves.
To date no illnesses have been reported from this product.
Consumers who have Liberté Méditerranée Wild BlackBerry Yogourt 6oz should destroy the product and contact Liberté at 1-888-340-9306 x 0 (Monday-Friday 8am-5pm EST) or via email at info@liberte.ca for a full refund.
The company is working cooperatively with the U.S. Food and Drug Administration until the recall is complete. We continue to evaluate the root cause of this problem and are making corrective actions.
We deeply regret the risk that this error has created for those who are allergic to the plum and walnut fruit preparation and the inconvenience that this recall has caused to our customers.

For neck pain and back pain, rub jalapeno along the infected areas. The jalapeno causes the area to warm, similar to using a product like Ben Gay.
I learned about this by accident after cooking with jalapeno. At the same time, I had some pretty bad pain in the neck and upper back. I cut the jalapeno open and smeared the open jalapeno, seeds and all, on my back and neck. It really did help relieve my muscle pain.
Salt n Pepa:
You are actually right, and now I must revise my recommendation.
I no longer recommend rubbing jalapeno on your skin. It really burns. I don’t even know if it helped me with my muscle aches. When I took a hot shower, it burned even more.
In summary, ignore my advice.

Of course it burns, and it could cause blisters on really tender skin, but it is that burning feeling that caused it to work...
It was burning and waking up the nerve endings/blood vessels and they went into action and relaxed the painful area.
Another method that does not burn, is to use the end of the vacuum cleaner hose and suck up the skin in the pain area.
This will also cause the nerves and blood vessels to contract and start working again.
Works great for headaches and I know of one man who swears that it cured his dead arm, that was dead because of a stroke.
I learned this from Dr. Comer, a Chiropractor who graduated from the Palmer Chiropractor Institute in 1926.
He did all kinds of weird things that worked.

4. Blanch 2gm of passion fruit to 1/4 cup of water and drink.
5. Drink: chamomile tea, peppermint tea, cinnamon, cumin.
6. Soak 1 teaspoon of grained cardamom seeds in a cup of water, wait 10 minutes, drink 3 times a day preferred before eating.
7. Drink hot water with lemon and peppermint.
8. Blanch hypos leaves and drink or saturate the leaves in olive oil, filter and swallow.
9. Massage the stomach with fennel oil to relieve the pain and gas.
10. Blanch parsley and drink several times a day.
11. For babies: Put caraway seeds in boiling water, add some grape sugar (or white sugar), cool and drop a few drops into the baby’s mouth 3 times a day.
12. For babies: Apply and rub some arrack on the baby’s foot for a few minutes, then cover with a sock.
13. Cook 1 cup of rice to 3 cups of water, steam and drink the rice water.
14. Put half a teaspoon of licorice root tea in a cup of hot water, wait 10 minutes, strain and drink. Repeat 3 times daily.
15. Take a very hot bath, can also add a cup of camomile tea into the water. Put your feet up and a heating pad on your abdomen and under your lower back.
16. Put 2 tablespoons of peach leaves and add boiling water. Wait 10 minutes and drink 3 times daily.
17. Add 1 teaspoon of grinded fresh cardamom seeds to 1 cup of boiling water. Wait 10 minutes and drink. Repeat 3 times daily before meal.
18. Grind ginger root, add boiling water, add honey and drink as tea.
19. Drink carbonated water.
20. Pour a cup of boiling water into a cup with grind/ cut horseradish root, wait 5 minutes and drink. Repeat 3 times a day.
21. To relieve pain and gas, eat coriander seeds.
22.Suck on a lollypop or peppermint candy to help with stomach cramps.
23. For stomach cramps: Drink a lot of milk.
24. Fill up your pillow cover with: peppermint, rosemary, rose leaves, levender and Lemon verbena. Sleep throughout the night.

SAN DIEGO — The number of confirmed cases of swine flu reported in San Diego County since the pandemic began earlier this year stood at 1,014 Thursday morning, health officials said.
Since June, 16 San Diego County residents have died from the swine flu, according to the county Health and Human Services Agency.

Limited Recall of 772 Cartons of Iced Jumbo Green Onions due to Possible Health Risk

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE - August 12, 2009, Salinas, CA - A precautionary voluntary recall of 772 cartons of iced jumbo green onions under the brand names Omo and Fu Choy distributed from three locations, R.A.M. Produce Distributors of Detroit, Michigan, Franzella Distributing of San Francisco, CA, and United Food Service of East Point, GA has been issued by California-based NewStar Fresh Foods due to the possible presence of Salmonella.
No illnesses have been reported. The product is packaged in a 48-count iced carton, item numbers 02487403 and 02487452, product lot numbers 40550707 and 40510707, with production dates of July 20th and July 21st 2009. No other food service distributors or products are involved in this recall.
All affected product within the foodservice channel has already been accounted for and destroyed.
58 cartons were shipped from two distributors to small grocery outlets in the Detroit and San Francisco areas. Consumers in California may have purchased the product from Larry’s Produce in Fairfield, La Loma Produce, Good Life Grocery and El Grande, all San Francisco, and Valley Produce & Meat Market, San Pablo. Consumers in Michigan may have purchased the product from Confers Supermarket in New Lothrop, Ryan’s Food in Detroit, Brothers Supermarket and Al Jazeera Market in Dearborn and Sahara Market in Warren.
Although it is likely that the jumbo green onions are now beyond their usable life, the recall is being issued by the company out of an abundance of caution for consumer well-being in the possible event some consumers might have purchased from the listed retail outlets and still have the product in their home refrigerators.
The company is working closely with regulatory authorities at the state and federal levels to inform consumers in Detroit and San Francisco areas who may have purchased the product.
Salmonella is an organism that can cause serious and sometimes fatal infections in young children, frail or elderly people, and others with weakened immune systems. Healthy persons infected with Salmonella often experience fever, diarrhea (which may be bloody), nausea, vomiting and abdominal pain. In rare circumstance, infection with Salmonella can result in the organism getting into the bloodstream and producing more severe illnesses such as arterial infections (i.e., infected aneurysms), endocarditis and arthritis.

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE – August 12, 2009 – Peregrina Cheese Corporation of Brooklyn, New York, is recalling all products manufactured in its Brooklyn, NY plant from March 17, 2009 to the present because they have the potential to be contaminated with Listeria monocytogenes, an organism which can cause serious and sometimes fatal infections in young children, frail or elderly people, and others with weakened immune systems. Although healthy individuals may suffer only short-term symptoms such as high fever, severe headache, stiffness, nausea, abdominal pain and diarrhea, Listeria infection can cause miscarriages and stillbirths among pregnant women.
This recall action is being conducted in accordance with the Consent Decree filed on July 20, 2009, which requires Peregrina Cheese Corporation to recall all products and codes produced in the Brooklyn plant from March 17, 2009 to the present.

A new, updated guide to finding local substance abuse treatment programs is now available from the Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration (SAMHSA). National Directory of Drug and Alcohol Abuse Treatment Programs 2009 provides information on thousands of alcohol and drug treatment programs located in all 50 states, the District of Columbia, Puerto Rico, and five U.S. territories.
The National Directory includes a nationwide inventory of public and private substance abuse and alcoholism treatment programs and facilities that are licensed, certified, or otherwise approved by substance abuse agencies in each state. The National Directory is organized in a state-by-state format for quick reference by health care providers, social workers, managed care organizations, and the general public and provides information on more than 11,000 community substance abuse treatment programs.
The directory provides important information on levels of care and types of facilities, including those with programs for adolescents, persons with co-occurring substance abuse and mental disorders, individuals living with HIV/AIDS, and pregnant women. In addition, information is available on forms of payment accepted, special language services available with select providers, and whether methadone or buprenorphine therapy is offered.
The updated directory complements SAMHSA’s internet-based Substance Abuse Treatment Facility Locator — the online service, which is updated regularly and may contain more current information, provides searchable road maps to the nearest treatment facilities, complete addresses, phone numbers and specific information on services available. [Posted 08/13/2009] FDA notified healthcare professionals of the possibility of falsely elevated blood glucose results when using GDH-PQQ glucose test strips on patients who are receiving therapeutic products containing certain non-glucose sugars. These sugars can falsely elevate glucose results, which may mask significant hypoglycemia or prompt excessive insulin administration, leading to serious injury or death.
GDH-PQQ glucose monitoring measures a patient’s blood glucose value using methodology that cannot distinguish between glucose and other sugars. Certain non-glucose sugars, including maltose, xylose, and galactose, are found in certain drug and biologic formulations, or can result from the metabolism of a drug or therapeutic product. The FDA Public Health Notification provides a list of GDH-PQQ Glucose Test Strips and recommends that healthcare practitioners avoid using GDH-PQQ glucose test strips in healthcare facilities or take steps to never use them on patients receiving interfering substances.
FDA encourages the voluntary reporting of any medical device adverse events related to glucose meters or glucose test strips that do not meet the requirements for mandatory reporting. Adverse events should be reported to the FDA’s MedWatch Adverse Event Reporting program online, by phone [1-800-332-1088], or by returning the postage-paid FDA Form 3500 by mail [to MedWatch, 5600 Fishers Lane, Rockville, MD 20852-9787] or fax [1-800-FDA-0178].
