I also do not understand this issue and why it matters where O was born. My understanding (perhaps flawed) has always been that if you are born to a mother OR a father who is an American citizen, then you are also a US citizen, no matter where you were born. O’s mother was an American citizen. And wasn’t McCain born outside the US? Can someone set me straight if this is not the case, that you are automatically a citizen if born to another citizen of the US?
Obama’s citizenship is not the issue.
Being born to one American citizen doesn’t automatically make you a NATURAL BORN CITIZEN. He can be a citizen and still not be a natural born citizen. Generally the accepted definition of a natural born citizen is that of someone born on U.S. soil to two U.S. citizen parents.

You “may” be a US citizen, not meeting the eligibility requirement to be President of the United States of America.
But, you would not be “Natural Born”, as required to be President of the United States of America., under our Constituion.
