Our teacher's been abducted by aliens! Pupils terrified as UFO stunt backfires

It was supposed to inspire pupils to write more creatively. But the arrival of a UFO at Southway Junior School also inspired something rather different - terror. Some of the seven to 11-year-olds were left in tears after a spaceship apparently crash-landed and a teacher was abducted by aliens.

To make it look realistic, the school obtained sirens and flashing lights from the police and littered the grounds with debris from the 'spaceship'. Parents yesterday condemned the school for 'terrifying' their children and claimed that teachers had gone over the top in trying to 'fire their imagination'.

The 'Everyone Writes Day' - for all 370 pupils at the school in Burgess Hill, West Sussex - was designed to develop youngsters' writing skills. It is based on an idea from the Department for Children, Schools and Families and the National Literacy Trust. The aim is to find ways to take writing beyond the classroom and to provide 'exciting stimuli' for storytelling.

“Was Jim Thompson running FR back then?”

If he was, it was on a steam powered laptop!

A more important question, does the school library have a copy of To Serve Man?

I suspect that there is a “classical” psychology experiment in which a group of people are given a “briefing” by someone either wearing a lab coat or military uniform. The briefer tells them that UFOs are coming and soon to arrive, but we know nothing about the aliens or their intentions.

“The government” wants to survey them on their opinions and attitudes about what should be done.

(Importantly, the people are slightly “detained”, for safety reasons, and cannot be permitted to leave until they had it carefully explained to them that this is a hoax, no aliens are coming, and it is just a psychology experiment to see how they react. And that they are convinced of the fact.)

The survey should try to determine if they intend to go on normally and wait for further information; if they are panicking, and plan to head for the country; if they plan to do nothing, stop working or anything else, until they know more; or something else.

While some people would likely panic, I suspect that just as bad, a lot of people would just sit and watch TV until they know what to do, and that were this to happen on a nationwide scale, it would collapse our economy.

So it doesn’t really matter what the UFO aliens intentions are. What is implied is that any real UFO contact has to be handled very carefully, and that our society is “brittle” in this way, and needs to learn how to psychologically deal with true unknowns.

Three generations removed from those tough Brits who survived the blitz and stormed the beaches of Normandy.

No wonder England kow tows to the Muslims.

We in the US are overrun with illegals and have a Commie in the White House.
