Don Quixote
Last time I read it, about 17 years ago, I laughed my butt off.
Figure I could use a chuckle now.
The main problem being Cervantes writing style, his tendency to create long running sentences, constantly shifting the point of what he is saying, repeatedly interspersing elements that have no real bearing on the situation at hand...
Dude was one long winded Spaniard, that’s for sure!

Good comparison. I have a few of his books on my shelf, one which I haven’t read.
Should try to find some copies of stuff by someone I have in the last year or three come to consider one of the greatest writers in the English language.
Now I’m not saying anything here at all about his politics. Or his sexual orientation. Or anything else that people might want to start screaming about.
Only his writing and the use of the English language.
Oscar Wilde

Bushwackers: The Civil War in North Carolina; The Mountains by William R Trotter. Part of a trilogy of the Civil War in NC. Silk Flags and Cold Steel: The Piedmont, and Ironclads and Columbiads: The Coast.
Very good and easy reading with the author’s delightful writing style.

The Devil in the White City by Erik Larson. Interesting non-fictional blending of the master architects of the 1893 Chicago World's Fair and a serial killer lurking in its shadows.

Just got done re-reading The Moon Is A Harsh Mistress My son bought me that book. I'm about halfway into it. Heinlen was a prophet. Also read this book for you old warriors out there.
A Hundred Feet Over Hell
It's a quick read that you won't want to put down until you're finished. Highly recommend it. One of my old friends and mentors is a main character. These guys had big balls.

Just finished the Troy series by Gemmell. Excellent.
“Troy: Lord of the Silver Bow”
“Troy: Shield of Thunder”
“Troy: Fall of Kings”
Currently, “Shop Class as Soulcraft” by Matthew Crawford. Kind of wandering at times, esp in the early chapters, but so far pretty interesting.
Next up, “Men of Bronze” by Scott Oden

Ha! Considering picking up a cb350 or cb550 to turn into a cafe racer. I might need to pick up something similar if I decide to pull the trigger.

Liberty and Tyranny by Mark Lavine.
Just finished "The founding Mothers" by Cokie Roberts a very good look at what the women were doing for the Revolution and what they went through and sacrificed. They did and gave much. Very interesting book with letters from Abigail to her lady friends in the war effort and to her husband. Letters back from those friends.
Earlier I read "The Shack" a Christian book written as Fiction. This book will keep you on the edge of your seat, what will happen next to this man. Great read.
