Not that this applies to the banquet but your question made me think of this advice which I always thought is pretty good
When in doubt a pair of velvet jeans and a good silk blouse can take you a lot of places.

Good suggestion! I’m a dress kind of gal, but I can see where velvet jeans would be a great addition to a wardrobe.
