Is Nashville that dangerous of a place? Just wondering. I have never been to Tennessee. I hate to read about senseless crimes like this.

Yes. Nashville has some pretty bad areas and people who live in these areas. They sometime wonder out to the good areas as well. Downtown not one of the good areas though.

TN and KY were facing 7 plus unemployment in 2007 and it climbed to 9 percent in 2008 in certain areas due to the high price of gasoline killing auto business. TN and KY provided spare parts to the big three. FR contacts with people in TN and KY in mid 2008 indicated that crime was on the rise in rural and suburbs as unemployed turned to prop crimes. Today the situation is even worst. Crime will hit upper middle class and working wealthy areas as the unemployed and unemployed libertarian type drug users need money. Crime in America is slated to rise just like the 1970’s as recreational drug users join the ranks of criminals to feed their habits. It is going to get worst before it will get better. It is not the illegal aspect of drugs that drives the criminal act, but not having money to buy the drugs to feed the habit will drive recreational drug users to steal and even kill. Make drugs legal, the problem will not go away except in rought times, the drug crazed criminal will come from a larger pool of drug users.

Nashville is generally safe if you stay out of the rough neighborhoods. Downtown Nashville in the area he was shot is very safe. There are lots of upscale condos that are well patrolled. I doubt this was a random act of violence.
