Are you certain it's a "stupid mistake?" They said that exact phrase when Apple dropped floppy drives from the first iMacs back in 1998.

Ok let's go back in time.... Yeah I would contend that WAS a stupid mistake even with the floppy being a dying technology then. When I bought my Dell Dimension in 2003 it didn't come with a floppy drive. I purchased an aftermarket floppy drive and STILL use it fairly regularly.

As for Apple discontinuing floppy drives, to me that is like Apple giving the finger to the people who, at the time a floppy was part of their daily routine, and Apple is saying, "We are going to tell you a floppy is no longer relevant. Get used to it..." To me that is an arrogant mother f'ing company I never want to have any part of.

Where does one begin with that one. I bet you are loads of fun at parties. Zip drives...better not go there. Thumb drives...forget it.

Well, actually, no..., it’s Apple seeing what how many consumers want the floppy and finding out that no one does, except for 1/2 of 1 percent. So, they see that there is no good reason for making 99.5 percent of the users pay for the other 1/2 of 1 percent who want it. Thus, Apple quit making everyone else pay for those few that did want it. I would say that was considerate of Apple to quit making us all pay for what only a few wanted.

And by the way, when Apple did that, I had not used a floppy on my Mac for the previous five years prior to that time.

FURTHERMORE, if one *did* want to use a floppy, there was nothing that prevented those very few Macintosh users from getting a floppy drive. You simply got one and plugged it in. No problem.... LOL...
