How long of a July 4th Weekend will BOR & Rush take?

Just curious...with the 4th of July on a saturday evening, how long of a weekend do you think our fearless leaders of the conservative media, will take for vacation?

My bet is, O'Reilly will take off the 3rd and the 6th as well as the weekend, and Rush will take off the 3rd, and not come back until mid week of the next week! Ah, All our valiant leaders! All off with Biggles, and all the sportsmen who always pulled us through.

Anyone care to make a guess? >;)

My guess is that Rush will take a day off whenever he damn well pleases, and that’s just fine with me.

That’s not what I am implying at all. You are putting words and meanings in my *fingers*, that were never in my head. Sure they deserve vacations..But people who run restaurants and stores don’t schedule their own or their employees vacation times during the evening or their busy season.

I seem to remember a time when “entertainers” went out of their way to not only be part of holiday specials..they wanted their specials to be annual institutions, for their patrons...a tradition that sadly seems to be lacking these days.

"....A fellow fan!"

"...down to the stones, where old ghosts play. Very much so, and glad to know you. Regarding Rush's taking time off however, I really don't think it's any big deal. It's his show and his life. He delivers a quality product in my opinion, and when he takes time off we're often treated to the likes of Mark Steyn and Walter Williams, both of whom I also admire.

Rush does take a lot of time off. But he was good on Cap and Trade recently.

BOR is not a conservative, therefore is cannot be a conservative leader. I can’t stand to watch BOR or Hannity, so I don’t care how long they take off, Rush however I try to listen to several times a week.

Anyone care to make a guess?

Nah, not me. I've got the summer off to listen to Rush so whatever days he may take off, all the power to him.

BTW, that's one of the advantages of being self employed.......

Think about this: You come home for the Holidays, and it’s Thanksgiving night, or Christmas eve, and flipping on to FNC at 8pm, (even if you don’t like BOR) You find yourself at the beginning of a 3 hr special, with all theluminaries of the Rihjt, doing a Christmas special!! Not only the news and opinion, but skits, songs and Huckabee with the band. Hannity there, Limbaugh, Ollie North in a elf costume...I think that would be great...and not just repeats for a weeNot all of it has to be real time. Just think of some of our patriots who have entertained troopsd, having a jam session, and topical comedies...Sort of like one of those tconcerts Hannity is allways having..good clean conservative fun..and with a little news mixed in.

You lost me at our fearless leaders of the conservative media... (and then) O'Reilly

Bill O'Reilly is a lot of things. Conservative isn't one of them.

As for Rush, likely less than he deserves.

Here is a clue as to why you are getting the reaction you are. The libs and Rush haters generally use the vacation line a lot, there are even DU threads just like this, guessing when Rush will take a vacation and trying to use that to get his fans upset with him.

As for the time, talk radio numbers actually drop during daytime hours on holidays, it isn’t like prime time specials. Rush has a very small operation and he is close to his staff. For him to be on the air means all his support staff also is on the air. Some lesser known hosts, they are willing to take the chance of subbing and losing a holiday for the exposure hoping for a Hannity like breakthrough.

Rush isn’t a leader of the party, neither is O’Reily. Rush was elected to no office, and he admits it. He is a member of private enterprise and allowed to take as long as he wants for any weekend. The one you should be bitching about is Bozo and the legislature. I wish they would all take about 3.5 years off. It would only help the country.

I wuz kinda thinkin' of takin' a little vacation myself around that time. Dint mean nuthin' by it...

Meanwhile, 0bama went golfing again for a fourth straight weekend while trying to support one despicable tyrant who faked an election in Iran and another who was about to try in Honduras. Fore!

Oh...Ok...I w unaware of those attacks, as I rarely go to DU, and usually because someone posts a link to one of their threads here. (I think the last time was over 6 months ago.

I was unaware about the ratings drop, but I wonder if that is because people don’t expect to get anything other than replacements and second stringers.

If FNC *did* put together “Holiday Specials” for Thanksgiving and Christmas Eve, I know it would be “apointment TV’ for me. Part Holiday related news stories, Part concert, part Interviews, part ‘laugh In”. With Holiday music and factoids, Part Hee Haw, with the FNC women as the :”Hee Haw Girls...” ...OK so maybe the Hee Haw bits would be a step too far, but to this old geezer, done tounge in cheeck, it could be quite funny! 8oD

“Rush isn’t a leader of the party, neither is O’Reily”

I was being a bit tongue in cheek with that description.

A lot of folks who are reacting have been on Rush threads for years and see newbie trolls pop up every single time Rush takes a vacation with almost the exact same words..

You sound like Harry Reid, the leader of your party in the Senate.

You know, the marxist party that you embrace.

It was an unfortunate and unintended coincidence to echo them, even though my reasons were benign, and theirs are definitely not.. But I do miss them during Holiday breaks.
