Last week it was Venezuelan soldiers. I doubt Russia wants to get their hands physically dirty with this.

Why would they say white? Persians are white. Do they mean fair-haired?
Chechens makes more sense. For that matter they could be british, Dutch, American, etc converts.

Was reported earlier that a few hundred Russian Military Observers were already in Iran before the election. Russians are also installing and working on the Iranian Nuclear Reactors.
Russia can’t afford the beating they would take around the world if Russian troops were actively engaged in putting down a protest.
