You made a very specific claim regarding tens of thousands of people in the North investing in slaving ventures and 1.3 million people in the North owning slaves. The onus is on you to provide proof, not hide behind some nonsense about research fees.
requests like you made are (at least 90% of the time) what is known as "a dodge" to keep from admitting the truth about the ELITISTS/HYPOCRITES of DAMNyankeeland.
You made a very specific factual claim. If you're not willing to back it up with evidence, I can't be expected to take it at face value.
Professor T. Harry Williams of LSU said that: if you counted up every person north & south who either directly or INDIRECTLY (by buying "stock" in firms that they KNEW were "in the flesh trade") owned slaves, that the percentage was about the SAME in both regions.= about 5-6%. (i'll take him as a source anytime.)
Did he claim this in a book? an article? where? I'd be surprised if 5% of people in 1860 even owned stock, never mind stock in companies involved in slavery.
i KNOW that it would be "comfortable" for you to believe that the war was "about" or even "mostly about" slavery
For the South, preserving slavery was the number one reason behind the war. For the North, it was preserving the Union. Other than slavery, what reason did the South have to fight?
the UN-varnished TRUTH is that the DAMNyankees were NOT "as pure as the new driven snow
Of course they weren't. They were human after all. The treatment of some Confederate POW's was a disgrace.
& neither were the CSA adherents "just plain wrong"
Of course not. But they were the ones fighting to keep millions of people in chains. Whatever faults the North had were overshadowed by several factors of magnitude due to this fact.
trust me on this, i'm NOT going to go spend a great deal of time PROVING to you (or anyone else) something that you are able to research for yourself (& for free), only for you to deny the truth of the documents. (as i said, i was FOOLISH enough to go to the trouble a FEW times. in NONE of the cases did the "nonbelievers" agree with the FACTS, after all that effort. it is my long experience, that most people by age 25 are "set in" their core beliefs & will NOT change them regardless of facts presented.)

In case you hadn’t already discovered, the only thing Squat2pee is good for is diversionary tactics. He makes grandiose claims on a regular basis and then bluffs and blusters and bloviates - everything except tell the truth.
Accept that and the rest is easy!
