Rommel and Patton had a lot in common. They both liked to play on offense. They both believed in armor and tanks were instrumental to that end in modern warfare. Above all, they were both noble soldiers whose attributes outweighed their faults.

One of the unanswered questions of history is to what extent if any Rommel was involved in the plot against Hitler. At a minimum he was of a mind with the conservative army officers who were very critical of the Nazis.
