Twenty years ago, it might have worked. The divisions are so deep now there is no possibility of it working.

Today I had an exchange with a friend from my childhood..a lifelong friend.

He is one of many of them that say Cheney should "Shut up and go away-Other ex-VP's do not bother people".

"GORE bothers ME a lot!"

It escalated. I ended the exchange with, "Your grandchildren will curse your memory and spit on your grave for what you have done to their country".

Strike that one off the list.

Just take a cold shower and run for your life.

If you are lucky and careful you can have a political debate with a good friend and still walk away friends. But you can't 'walk away friends' with someone you live with. You have to like and respect their opinions ALL THE TIME!
