“Got into a ground hornet nest when I was about 5. I don’t think they ever did find all my clothes. LOL”

A few summers back, I was in the garden, wearing a sleeveless button down cotton top. A hornet came in through the armhole and got stuck in my bra.

I started stripping (we have no neighbors) as it stung me an stung me, and of course Husband pulled into the drive at that very minute.

He said, “That’s the way you need to greet me EVERY time I come home!” LOL!

That is too funny!

I was with both my grandmas at the time. We were about 5 miles from home, picking blackberries at the site of a long abandoned log cabin. Only one wall was standing, and the berry vines trailed over it perfectly. On the LONG walk back home, I laid down in the creek and rolled in the mud. I was ok for the most part. One of my gmas, the one that got stung the worst, nearly ended up in the hosp. I always told her it was because she didn’t roll in the mud. LOL

Got some birthday money to spend - maybe I will pick it up. My husband had to drop something off at the library yesterday, so I asked him to bring home the Lasagna Gardening book. Can’t wait to start in on it.

Hmmm, I have a sudden urge to grow some eggplant... I bet it’s great on the grill.

Thanks for the ping... Good article. I am up to my eyeballs in strawberries right now. (15 gallon and counting) Then there is getting the other seeds and plants in the ground so I have not had the time to be at my computer for a few days.

I like how this man thinks about ‘compost’ and ‘composting’. My push mower with a bagger cuts and chops just about anything less than an inch thick. And I like to push mow around the garden to keep the weed seeds from getting broadcast by the riding mower. I usually get 3 bags of clippings just from mowing around my garden space. I also push mow up and collect the leaves in late fall and store them over the winter to add to the ‘green’ grass clippings for that ‘moisture’ preservation. But I do have to say that other than egg shells I do not put ‘meat’ items in the composter.
