Also, if you’ve got 330 “friends” that your only means of contact is a social networking free site, then you either have an inflated opinion of your ability to attract friends, and/or you need to get out more with REAL people, who often exchange telephone numbers.

Hmmm. I don’t know. I’ve lived in 9 countries and about 2 dozen cities. I’ve got friends spread out all over the world. My facebook account is where I keep up with the ones who are elsewhere. I keep up with my physically close friends the same way anybody else would- texting on the phone and face to face. But I had lost contact with many of my other friends out there in the world and facebook allowed me to find them again. I think it’s a really cool thing. I was only signed up for a few days when I had friends I hadn’t talked to in years contacting me. One had moved from Skopje to Cambodia and I never knew. Now, I can keep up with these people.
