he’s still a hero to me, he and like-thinkers helped keep me from collapsing from emotional exhaustion during the campaigns.

I have one of those, too. ;o)

It is a REGENCY ROMANCE and one of the best. That would explain why my 15-year-old son is finding it tiresome! On the other hand, he doesn't know from "tiresome" until he tries to read "Great Expectations" next week!

I still have nightmares from “Great Expectations.” “Heart of Darkness” was pretty gruesome, too.

I liked “Heart of Darkness,” but I never cared for Dickens. I think it would have made sense for the literature course to include “Tale of Two Cities” after “The Scarlet Pimpernel,” but I’m not the publisher ...

Soon I am going to make you and some other folks very happy. I will stop posting on Free Republic. This forum has been very good to me despite some differences that I have had with some members. The forum allowed me to post the translations of the Iraqi documents and for this I am very grateful.
At the end we all need to remember that our beloved America comes first. We need to keep this Republic as the greatest nation in history of mankind. We can have differences on some issues but at the end you, I, and most freepers believe in the basic Conservative principles. We want small government, strong national security, strong defense, we support our brave troops who are fighting to protect our freedom and our way of life, we want to crush and defeat the terrorist enemy or any enemy of our USA, we want lower taxes, we want strong borders, we want judges who only abide by the Constitution, we want to protect the life of the unborn, we want to defeat socialism, liberalism, and anti-Americanism.
God bless America and our brave troops.

On the other hand, he doesn't know from "tiresome" until he tries to read "Great Expectations" next week! He will HATE that. If they are going to read a boring 19th century romance, "Wuthering Heights" or "Pride and Prejudice" are far better.

I never argue with a fool, since someone observing the exchanges may not be able to tell who the fool is. Thanks. I think I actually had that as a tagline way back when.

“Pride and Prejudice” is a clever 19th century romance, but not many 15-year-old boys (in any century) are likely to appreciate the social and psychological subtlety.
I suppose I could get him “Pride and Prejudice and Zombies,” if he’s assigned any Jane Austen next year!

Thank you very much for calling me a good freeper although some people will strongly disagree with you. I thought about it and I decided to take a leave from Free Republic. I do not know how long it would be. In the meanwhile keep up the good fight on this forum to defend our beloved America and our Constitution from socialism and left wing liberalism, to spread the Conservative values, and to support our brave troops the protectors of our freedom and our way of life.
