In a personal matter, a trade deficit may be an issue, it depends upon what you have.

For example, in terms of a durable goods trade deficit - like measured by the US Government - I have a personal MASSIVE trade deficit! I produce nothing; I am an engineer and consultant.

Yet I have a very good income, and consume quite a bit of durable goods, and each month my savings balance increases.

But I am 100% in agreement - Government needs to STOP it’s insane deficit spending; that is the source of the destruction of this nation!

I don't see it that way. You are solvent, your income is greater than your outgo.

Obviously, you are producing goods or services which generates an income.

The mere fact that both Japan and China hold huge amounts of our debt, both .gov and private is: We're buying 'stuff' at a greater rate than we are selling 'stuff'.

We cannot sustain this.

The first issue is we have unemployed people who would like to continue eating and having a roof over their heads - ergo - they voted for the Messiah who promised same.
