Why, he must be a hypocrite! ;)
The truth of the matter is as you and I and Toddsterpatriot know; that by words and most of his deeds, President Reagan was an unabashed free trade supporter. But he was also quite a pragmatic politician who understood the meaning of the word compromise, and often reached compromise regarding trade.
Reagan would gladly take 70-80% of what he wanted to give the other side their "pound of flesh", and he would continue fighting to get the rest. But thankfully he understood compromise and the nation was better for it.
By your standard, if Reagan was a protectionist because he placed tariffs on Japanese motorcycles, then what is he because he signed a free trade agreement with Canada? Why, he must be a hypocrite! ;)
I don't remember using that label against Ronald Reagan.
But thanks for yet another dishonest post.
