This is interesting. Downtown Plymouth is holding their second annual Green Street Fair this weekend. Maybe the crowds haven’t been great, but perhaps it is a good venue for sharing a virus?(I have not attended, as the mention of “Green” makes me see red.) Plymouth is contiguous with Canton, and they comprise one school district. I wonder how many kids will be at the malls tomorrow and Tuesday?
I’m in San Jose where we have 9 probable cases, and a high school by our house was closed.
My daughters school has not been closed, but I skipped a school auction last night. I actually helped with the set up, but skipped the actual auction. I was irritated when one of the teachers started talking about how she didn’t feel well the day before (she did miss school), but she was helping set up. I immediately went to the bathroom and washed my hands, and then I went home.
I’m in a wait mode with this whole swine flu thing. My daughters are high risk (one has asthma, and the other has epilepsy and heart problems) for complications from any flu.
I don’t want to under-react or over-react. When the school by us closed, I kept my daughters home from their school. One of their classmates has a sibling at the closed school.
Tomorrow, I’m calling the asthma specialist and the cardiologist to see what they recommend. I’m hoping they have a better feel for the situation then they did last week.
