That had to be a hard time for you, JC. ((((((HUGS))))))
Some things just can’t be measured by money or costs.
If you don't have much time to do the tourist thing, make sure to take one of the bus tours; they're fabulous.
It's cheap and easy to get around, too. Even cab fares are low, low, low.
Yes, the anniversary of his death is a bit harder but the sons keep me in high spirits. I have my tearful moments but thank goodness, they don’t last long. God is good about that.
Don’t you think we have all felt more patiotism this year than maybe before. I think its because our government (President)is doing things we are rebelling against. And it makes us in a patriotic fighting mode! He doesn’t seem to have the love of this country like we do.
Yes, and those tend to beloved ones and living things.
Uh, ya think it could be that he isn't even from this country?
Absolutely anddddddd.....he listened to that Jeremiah Wright hate this country and tell of what a mean country we were, in bombing Japan and he talked about about a lot of wars we had. And when he spoke of 9/11, he said ‘the chickens had come home to roost’. Obama was in that church 20 years. And yet there was enough people in this country who watched him “read his speeches” and thought he was a saint and they voted for him! Then there’s the media.....what can I say?
I do remember when Meredith Viera interviewed Obama and Michelle, she got Obama to denounce Wright and she tried her best to get Michelle to denounce Wright and she never would. Viera tried 3 times. I saw the interview.

Thank you so much, Conor, for recognizing these Fallen Heroes each day. God Bless Each of them and God Bless their grieving families and loved ones. And God Bless you for serving your country also. My husband served a 4 year stint in the U. S. Navy. He was a Hospital Corpsman and Saturday was his 5 year death date anniversary. Memorial Day has hit me hard this year more than ever. But as I told yorkie, my sons are great at keeping my spirits up at Holiday time.
Oh Brother of the Gun
Long our roads near the Tonkin Gulf, so far weve come
weve known the fury of battles at dawns half light
the long hours on the watch through the night
though sometimes so stricken, as if we were dumb
We finally made it home, sort of I guess
though some did not, we still hold them near
remembering the bitter taste of our own fear
yet we went on, for we could do no less
The years passed, and still we remembered all
and honored our service with silent faith in right
shunned and spit on, we stood firm each day and night
listening to our countrys long remembered call
We went on, built new lives and started over again
accepting our forgotten self amid the day
but remembering all too well each night Id say
keeping so tight a hold to our silent hidden pain
We grew beyond the hard times, and built a new life
built a career in spite of ourselves, surprising us at times
knowing family and friends, such sweet, sweet rhymes
dealing with all the joys, challenges, and sometimes strife
We were Brothers of the Gun, sharing common toil
and we gave respect and honor to our brothers in care
you were my friend, my self, the other brother Ill remember fair
when the heartache and inner pain started to really boil
Youve gone ahead, still inspecting as was your way
making sure its up to regulations before we all get there
so I say thanks for the time we shared my friend fair
until we meet for a beer and some scuttlebutt another day
Rev. Johnn Trike Schroeder

That is a wonderful and very touching piece of poetry, Johnn!
