Your heart is in the right place
but this had been an ongoing debate for years on FR.
At times there are lulls but it inevitably flares up again.

Can we all agree from this point on,

that not only do both sides have a right to post articles about pit bulls, either positive or negative

Yes. Has there really been any doubt about that?

that they have a right to discuss their views in their own thread without concern about the "other side" coming in to their thread to harass, attack or annoy them because of their views

No. Debate is good.
My beef lately has been with deluge posting by the "anti-pitbull" side.
It makes debate very difficult if not impossible.
It takes much less time to do a google search and post an article
than it does to research and produce a well thought out response to the article.
In a sense deluge posting is a way to shut up your opponent.

If someone intends to harass, attack or annoy, more power to them
but they shouldn't be surprised to receive a reply in kind.
There is a fair amount of leeway allowed in our responses to one another.
If it gets too out of hand that's what the mods are for,
but it is wise not awaken them too often. :)

What’s the point of turning this forum into an echo chamber? I remember when it used to be okay to have a heated discussion with someone, then laugh and drink a beer and walk away. Now everyone is so damned sensitive.
